This year, more than 600 mu (40 hectares) of lilies have been planted in Changtan Village, with a yield of 1,000 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares). With the continuous rise of the market price of lilies, the village has achieved a total output value of about 60 million yuan, increased the income of large growers by more than 16 million yuan and provided jobs for more than 1,000 local residents nearby, with a per capita cumulative income increase of more than 10,000 yuan.

Before planting lilies, Wu Jianchun was engaged in rice and tobacco cultivation, but his income was not very ideal. By chance, he heard that planting lilies could fatten his wallet, so he also came up with the idea of planting lilies. He went to Changtan Village in Changle Township and Longshan County for investigation. He purchased seeds, cultivated seedlings, and sought sales channels. He has now become an experienced and skilled lily grower, and plants around 30 mu (2 hectares) of lilies annually.
“In the past two years, lilies have had a high yield and good prices. Every year, I also need to transfer land in the village and help my fellow villagers to increase income together,” said Wu Jianchun.
The fields in Changle Township are now full of the joy of harvest.
